Presurgical Information

The doctors approach every surgical case with utmost care.  Anesthesia, surgical monitoring, and surgical technique are continually updated to help ensure your pet's comfort and safety. Your pet will need to be fasted for at least twelve hours before surgery.

  •  Presurgical blood tests are recommended before any anesthesia.
  •  Presurgical ECG to monitor heart rate and function is available.
  •  Anesthetic agents used are the same agents as used in human surgery.  Isoflurane® is the primary inhalant anesthesia utilized.
  •  Pulse oximeters and respiratory monitors are used to measure blood oxygen levels throughout the procedure.
  •  All surgery is performed with sterile instruments and gloves, just as in our human counterparts.  Separate sterile packs are used for each animal.  We will not lower our high standards of quality veterinary surgery for any reason.
  • Bring your pet in between 7am and 8am Monday through Friday. Most surgical cases are sent home the same day of surgery.
